Women are Needed in STEM

Currently, there is a lack of women in STEM fields. According to the U.S. Department of Labor women only make up 26% of the workers in All STEM fields. To combat this, REC Foundation created the Girl Powered initiative

"Girl Powered exists to change that reality by redefining the face of STEM and ensuring that all students see a place for themselves in robotics."

SAF Girl Powered Events

Steam AHEAD Foundation is proud to host our first Girl Powered Event at Montgomery Middle School, San Diego, CA on October 11th.

This one-day event is open to 8th-5th graders from the surrounding schools. It is designed to be an event for girls who have little-to-no experience in robotics. Your student will work in groups to do the following:

  • Learn basic principals of engineering
  • Build and program a robot
  • Compete in a mini challenge!
